Motion Forward, Anticipating the Future.

"Keep your eyes open and your stilettos on"- Sarah Doody (Friend. Visionary.)

For the past 6 months, I've been studying Discipline with my friend Crystal. Each week we study a different discipline and then meet on Tuesdays for only one hour to discuss our findings.

Key Learning #1: Accountability

Many of us “Learners” read self help or motivational books and think, “oh that was good” but do we really practice what we’re learning and put it to good use? Seldom. The honeymoon phase wears off quickly and the residue is simply a check on our growing list of books read. This being the case, I’ve found studying with a friend, to be extremely helpful and not only am I retaining the information I’m reading but I find myself practicing the disciplines and my learning’s are being put to good use.

Key Learning #2: Preparation

Always be prepared for what lies ahead. Study to show thyself approved, dress for what you want, walk as if you own it already.

The Light of Reality

Early this morning, while it was still dark, I drove the 2.2miles to my gym. Along the way I noticed two men walking along the sidewalk each carrying something that looked like fishing poles. A bit confused as to where they would be fishing in Orange County, I peered for a closer look and as I drove closer I was shocked to find they were not carrying fishing poles at all. What I had mistaken to be fishing poles were actually rifles and the men were dressed in military gear.

Why was that such a random thing to see and why was I shocked? Rarely do we civilians see soldiers among us. This is why I am thankful to live in America. Thankful for all those who have paved the way before me so we could be free. We do not live where war and chaos abound at each street corner, but instead we live in peace and yet we complain about the pettiest things we can find. Those of us who live on American soil need to wake up with the thankfulness of reality.
